So… What’s with the skeletons?

People sometimes ask me about the imagery I use for this project… and all my projects and branding, really.

It’s pretty simple. I use skeletons and spooky stuff for three reasons.

  1. I grew up in the 80’s during the golden age of VHS horror movies and do-it-yourself Halloween displays. My family has a long tradition of enthusiastic craftiness. My grandmother made our costumes. My grandfather, a talented woodworker, built yard displays and props. My aunt and uncle took great joy in getting into character and becoming a part of the festivities every 31 October. These are my most cherished memories of growing up in a small town in eastern NC. So I carry it on.

  2. While I avoid overt themes of any kind, unless specified by a client, I think the image of the skeleton represents something imoportant as it pertains to gatherings and live events: the brevity and preciousness of life. We’re only on this planet for a short time, and it goes by so fast. Eventually we all end up as skeletons, figuratively speaking. That makes each night, each event (and every oppurtunity to come together) very special.

  3. It looks cool!

Please do keep in mind that every event is different, and as my client, you have the ability to tailor the aesthetic to your own vision, no skeletons neccessary.
